Attorney Andrew Bertrand was a Probation Officer with the Drug & Task Force in New York City and later in Golden & Canon City, Colorado. He served 2 years on the Colorado Governors' DUI Task Force. After law school he was District Court Prosecutor in New Hampshire and moved to Fort Collins in 1999. Andrew was named 2005 Criminal Defense Attorney of the Year by the Consumer Business Review, an honor also given to him in 2004.

He received the 2005 Judge Conrad Ball Award. Bertrand is the first defense attorney recognized for this award. The April 13, 2005 Larimer County New Release states" He was nominated by the Colorado Public Defender's Office, who compared him with Buzz Lightyear and Mighty Mouse in his "enthusiastic dedication in seeking justice and helping others. The Public Defender's Office wrote that Bertrand often accepts cases-in-need pro bono, is a skilled mediator, offers personal encouragement and assistance to clients, and a man with a great sense of humor and spirit."....."The honorable Judge Ball was instrumental in creating Community Corrections in Larimer County and the State of Colorado in the mid 1070's. Each spring the award is given in his memory to a recipient who has significantly contributed toward improving the quality of the criminal justice system in the County".

Associate Attorney Nathan Hansen received his undergraduate degree from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa where he graduated with honors in Anthropology and Sociology and served as an Interim Professor of Sociology. He obtained a juris doctor degree from Hamline University in Saint Paul, Minnesota. There, he published an article in the Hamline Journal of Law and Policy, served as Articles Editor on the Journal, and received the prestigious Federal Bar Association’s Judge Jacob Dim Scholarship Award for Excellence in the study of federal law and practice.

Nathan has served as a clerk for Judge Terrence L. O’Brien on the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. He also previously worked for the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. and Denver where he helped prepare a case for argument before the United States Supreme Court. While at DOJ, he was awarded the Assistant Attorney General’s Award for Excellence and received special recognition from the Superintendent of Rocky Mountain National Park for his work on a lawsuit that recovered money for damage to the park’s eco-structure. His experience also includes work for the Environmental Protection Agency and Minnesota Court of Appeals.
